Bolton's finest Peter Kay is back doing stand-up after a year of success with the award-winning Phoenix Nights and is in fine form. Anyone lucky enough to have tickets for Kay's catalogue of Manchester shows will probably still be stitching their sides up for some time after the laugh a second performance.

I left the two and a half hour show with a headache after laughing so hard at the observational humour that makes Kay so funny. From his reminiscent stories of childhood watching shows like Bullseye and The Love Boat, to stories of quirky DJ's at school discos and family dos.

It's not just the gags but the mannerisms and reconstruction of northern life that hits home with everyone in the crowd. We all remember the early days of big top-loading videos and remote controls on a wire because we all had one. That's the key to the comedy, the fact that every member of the laughing crowd can relate to what the star is saying.

From dunking biscuits into tea to Friday night big shops followed by chippy tea - it's all funny - and that's all the show consists of. It's probably not even planned just one recollection after another, only interrupted by heckles from the crowd and audience trips to the toilet before they wet themselves.

Tickets for the shows are like gold dust but if you get the chance to see this gig then I strongly recommend you do...though be prepared to laugh all night long.
