WIDNES Vikings look set to meet the Sydney City Roosters in a warm-up for the World Club Challenge after all.
Plans to play the Aussie champions nine days before their clash with St Helens were blocked by the Rugby Football League to preserve the occasion of the Valentine's Day fixture.
But the clubs have now entered talks to stage a 60-minute game of scrimmage - a mix between full rugby league rules and 'touch and pass' - on February 10.
Only season ticket holders are likely to see the game, with a gala dinner for the Roosters at the Halton Stadium afterwards.
"We are still in talks over the game and it is in the pipeline, but we would like to do it with the RFL's blessing," said Vikings spokesman, Andrew Kirchin.
l Season tickets are now on sale at £150 (£80 concessions) until Christmas Eve, thereafter the price reverts to £170.
The club shop will be open until 7pm on weekdays, 2pm on Satruday and 3pm on Sunday.
