THE father of the two Great Budworth Primary School pupils who died in a road traffic accident has thanked everyone for their condolences and messages of support.

Stephen Brooker's children eight-year-old Alexander and Niamh, aged five, died at the scene of the accident, which happened on December 5, as they were being driven to school by their mother, Alison.

The accident happened on Cann Lane in Aston-By-Budworth at 8.50am when a black Volkswagen Passat, driven by a 44-year-old Northwich man was in collision with a Fiat Punto, containing the Brookers, of High Legh, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Alison, aged 38, is now slowly starting to recover from her injuries in Warrington General Hospital after being trapped in her car.

Stephen, aged 43, said: "We are hopeful she will eventually make a full recovery.

Support

"The staff at Warrington General Hospital have been superb and I want to thank them for their wonderful support, encouragement and skill in helping Alison to recover.

"I would also like to thank everyone for all the messages of condolence over the past few days, particularly the children from Great Budworth School.

"All the messages have been very comforting at this extremely difficult time."

The head teacher, Tim Gray and teaching staff at Great Budworth Primary School are considering the best way to commemorate the lives of Alex and Niamh.

A 44-year-old Northwich man was arrested on Sunday, December 8, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was questioned by police at Wilmslow police station and has been bailed until next year pending police inquiries.
