POLICE are hunting two men who held a post office worker at gunpoint before tying him up and escaping with money.
A 40-year-old staff member was left extremely shaken after the incident, which happened between 4.10 and 4.40pm on Monday, at the post office, in Glover Road, Locking Stumps.
The distressed man was threatened by the balaclava wearing offenders with one carrying a single barrelled sawn off shotgun.
He was forced to open the safe and the two men placed the stolen cash in a toolbox. The staff member only raised the alarm 30 minutes later when he managed to free himself.
The two men are described as wearing fluorescent jackets, and generally with a workmanlike appearance.
A female member of staff remembers two men, fitting this description, enter the post office earlier to buy a drink during the day.
Police want them to come forward to they can be eliminated from enquiries and are asking the driver of a white Ford Escort van - seen driving away from the Locking Stumps area between 4.15 and 1.30pm - to contact them so they can also be ruled out.
