A HUSBAND and wife team of reverends are leaving Widnes for pastures new after serving four churches and two denominations between them.

Reverend Nigel Coke-Woods, age 44, spent five years as a methodist minister for Farnworth and Cronton while Reverend Sylvia Coke-Woods, age 55, spent four years serving the CoE at St Mary's in West Bank and St Paul's in Victoria Square.

"I will remember just sharing people's lives, their highs and lows, funerals and weddings," said Reverend Sylvia Coke-Woods.

She remembers the 'brilliant occasion' of the first Vikings match in the Super League.

Reverend Nigel Coke-Woods from Dorset, said: "I'll remember the personal things - there's things you can't tell other people about but you have precious moments with people."

During their time here, the couple have seen St Paul's renovated along with Victoria Square and say they will be sad to miss the St Mary's flower festival.

Helping to bridge the gap between the generations at Farnworth and helping to install disabled ramps and a hearing loop for people with hearing aids rank among their proudest moments.

The couple, along with sons Alex, 19, and Bobby, 18, plus their two cats, Patch and Bramble and dog, Rowan, left their home on Hall Avenue on Tuesday.

Revered Nigel Coke-Woods is moving tp a ministry of 11 churches in Yeovil.

His wife added: "The day to day friendship of the people in the churches has been lovely."
