WEAVERHAM swimmer Natalie Jones competed against some of the best young swimmers in the world last week and more than proved she is ready for the big time.

Natalie, aged 15, a pupil at St Nicholas High School, was chosen to represent Great Britain at the 55th International Catholic Student Games in Salamanca and did her country proud by picking up a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle and a second bronze medal as part of the girls 4x100m medley relay team.

Natalie experienced further success when the GB team won the swimming championship trophy for gaining the most points overall.

More than 1,000 students from all over the world competed at the games in a variety of sports including football, athletics, tennis and, of course, swimming.
