THE bridge is only congested twice a day when everyone tries to use it, so we don't need another one, just better journey planning.
On the rare occasion that it is closed there can be delays of several hours for many people as the only alternative routes are via Warrington, so yes we do need another bridge, sometimes.
If a second bridge were built the congestion would transfer from the bridges to the feeder roads.
So, having spent many millions (of other people's money) we would be only marginally better off and moaning about the new congestion points. So, why not spend the money on something better or accept that some car journeys may not be essential.
Your anonymous correspondent, August 6, has commuted for eight years from Widnes to Manchester, but now says his journey takes too long. Move house or move your job, he is part of the problem he complains about.
