these train times!I WAS very surprised to learn about the four hour/three train journey from Widnes to Manchester on last week's letters page. I've been making this journey trip for the past 15 years and my travelling time continues to fall each year.
If the writer travels on the express from Widnes Station (no change of trains) they'll be in Manchester city centre in 33 minutes. If the train stopped at local stations (change at Warrington or Widnes) the overall journey will still only take 50 minutes.
I'm afraid this seems yet another excuse by car drivers not to use public transport.
