MOND Rangers junior team, under the control of manager Gordon Thomsett, have continued were they left off last season when they won the Warrington u12s league without losing a single game.

They then won the Runcorn and District FA u17s Junior Cup.

During the summer they have competed in a number of tournaments staring with a club tour to Bognor Regis where they won the group stage then beat Bognor Town in the quarter finals.

Unfortunately they lost against Enfield in the semi final. In early July they travelled to Manchester to compete in a tournament for the fifth consecutive year.

Previous years resulted in the team being finalists but this year they deservedly won the competition defeating Cadishead in the final.

In early August the team competed in the Liverpool International Invitation Trophy at Liverpool University.

The tournament has been running for eight years with 15 nations taking part.

These include China, Norway, Romania, France, Germany, Gibraltar and USA as well as the home countries.

Mond were undefeated in the group stage and then beat Stangeld from Germany in the semi final.

Manager Gordon Thomsett was delighted at the progress his team made but a little disappointed when losing the final 0-2 against Dijon of France who, under international rules as a visiting nation, were allowed to play five over-age players.

They had averaged five goals a game in the tournament and came to Liverpool from their club tour in Russia where they won the Russian cup, defeating Dynamo Kiev and Auxerre. Mond forward Mark Dundon received the golden boot as top scorer with 10 goals in four games.
