A WIDNES man fought with a burglar after he caught him in his house in the early hours.
The man, in his 50s, was woken up at his home on Highfield Road at 3am last Friday when he heard noises.
He went into the hallway and was confronted by the burglar.
The pair struggled and the crook managed to escape with a quantity of cash.
The man is described as a dark-skinned European male, aged 20 to 22, around 5ft 11ins tall, of medium to stocky build with cropped, short dark hair and 'staring eyes'.
He wore a medium red coloured short-sleeved t-shirt, sweater and possibly jeans.
He had a circular tattoo on his left forearm. It was two-and-a-half inches big, with a normal ink outline, with red flower petals in a spoke-like pattern.
Anyone with information should contact Det Con Lorna Corran at Widnes CID on 0151-424 7431.
