DANNY Watson and Larry Wells made for a lethal combination in the hotly contested Ray Fisher Promotions Bank Quay Pairs competition.

The MD International youth league champion, Watson, plus crack King and Queen bowler, Wells, did not have an easy ride though.

They had to survive a mighty challenge from father and son partnership John and Ste Brown in the first round.

They clinched a 21-20 victory with the last bowl of the game.

In the semi-finals the pair had to recover from being 13-5 down against Jason Pearson and Alan Manuel to book their place in the final.

In the opposite half of the draw, Christopher Ure and his Granddad, Jim Ure, played exceptionally well to reach the final.

Unfortunately, the pair produced their best game in the semi-finals against Claire Watson and Rob Lawrenson. They produced some brillant winning bowls to score a 21-20 victory.

Watson and Wells won the final 21-8.

Junior bowling returns to Orford Park on Saturday from 9.30am to noon.
