ABBIE Cunningham will jet off to former Soviet Union state Azerbaijan on Wednesday with her sights firmly set on making history.
The 16-year-old judo ace is bidding to become the first person to defend the European Cadet title.
Her watching coach and father were reduced to tears when she won the event in Hungary last year and Abbie will go to Azerbaijan brimming with confidence after picking up a silver medal in the European Youth Olympics two weeks ago.
Graham Heaton, Abbie's coach at the Warrington Judo Club, said: "I have no doubt that Abbie will win gold in Azerbaijan.
"She is sure to be the best fighter there and she will be doubly determined to finish top of the pile after being robbed of a gold medal at the European Youth Olympics."
