A WOMAN jumped from a second floor window to escape a fire at her Birchwood home in the early hours of Sunday.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze, at the block of flats in Strawberry Close, shortly after 2am.
The woman, aged 41, who has not been named, was taken by ambulance to Warrington Hospital with head and neck pains.
A fire service spokesman said: "We were called to a fire in a second floor flat.
"The woman had jumped out of the second floor window before we arrived.
"There is extensive damage to the flat and the cause of the blaze is under investigation."
