Paul Keaveny
AFTER playing the Electric Six album, Fire, I asked myself, 'what on earth was that all about?'
This album is a strange mix of comedy, rock, disco and cheesy synthesisers that, after one listen, leaves you a tad confused but still makes you want to hear more.
The band's songs are refreshingly tasteless and verge on the politically incorrect but I bet you won't be able to stop humming them.
Gay Bar is their best tune but the rock epic Naked Picture of Your Mother comes a close second. While their most recognisable song, Danger! High Voltage! is pure Spinal Tap.
It has to be said too that the vocalist has one of the strangest voices I've ever heard. It has an 80s rock roar quality mixed with the high-camp of Sparks.
Very odd then. But all in all a very satisfying and funny listen.
