RESIDENTS in Fairfield will be disappointed to learn that the annual Scott Street Carnival has been cancelled for this year.
William Stevenson, one of the chief organisers of the festival and former landlord of The Albion pub, on Battersby Lane, recently moved out of the area.
Volunteers have since found it difficult to raise cash for the event.
However, the pub's new landlord has decided to hold various events throughout the year to generate enough money for next year's carnival.
