WINSFORD'S joint sixth form celebrated some excellent A and AS level results on Thursday as Verdin and Woodford Lodge pupils look towards an exciting future.

Both Winsford headteachers, Woodford Lodge's Stephen Meeks and Verdin's Neil Dyment, attributed the success to the sheer hard work and dedication of the students and the teachers in the sixth form.

Among the successes were Jason Williams with a grade A in psychology, a B in history and a C in maths, and Natasha Rimmer, who got a B in drama, B in health and social care and C in psychology.

Jason will be going to Liverpool University to read ancient history and archaeology, with Natasha taking a degree in primary school education at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Other successes included Dawn Harrison, with an A in art and C in drama, Adam March with an A and B in business studies and an E in ICT, Emma Copnall with an A in health and social care and a C in drama and Samantha Bishop who scored a grade B and C in health and social care.

Joanne Williams, head of the sixth form, said: "A Level students were successful in securing university places, with nearly all students attaining grades to secure their first preference place at university.

"Students from Winsford Sixth Form will be attending Liverpool University, Chester College, Manchester Metropolitan University and Liverpool John Moores.

"As head of sixth form I am particularly proud of the many successes achieved by our students.

She added: "AS examination results were also received and some excellent achievements are noted - Nicola Wright's four grade A in business studies, ICT, mathematics and psychology represent an outstanding achievement, as does Jennifer Unwin's two A's and a B and Clare White's two A's."
