HARDWORK and dedication have paid off at Mid Cheshire College after the release of the A Level results heralded some fantastic individual stories of achievement.

Mid Cheshire College offers A level, AS Level and Vocational Certificates in Education to students whose ages range from 17 to 66.

Some pupils study full time, while others attended college on a part time basis fitting their studies around full time jobs or looking after young children.

Nicola Bruno, from Weaverham, received an A grade in A level Italian after just one years study at the college.

Nicola is halfway through a travel and tourism course, which she attends during the day while her two-year-old daughter Megan is in the college's crche.

Mother of two, Sharon Lelonek, was delighted to achieve a grade A in AS Level art. Sharon, aged 36, only started studying two years ago but now intends to carry on and complete the full A level next year and then consider having ago at a Higher National Diploma.

Another pupil who is celebrating after securing her place at Bradford University is Jennifer Powell, aged 19, who has been awarded two A Levels and three AS Levels during a single year of study.

College director, Dick Ellingham, said: "We are always delighted to see our students do well and these results are proof that whatever your age, you can achieve.

"Many of our students are going to University or into jobs with good prospects. A number are returning to the College to study for Higher National Qualifications.

"Whatever their destinations, I wish all our students a successful future."
