A COMBERBACH poet is continuing to let her writing do the talking and will be honoured at an International Society of Poets conference in Washington DC in America

Even though Joan Millington, of Senna Lane, will not be travelling to the prestigious event, her poetry will be read out to more than 1,800 delegates from around the world.

The society has arranged for professional poetry readers to recite Joan's poem at the largest gathering of poets yet.

Organisers told Joan: "Our readers will present your poem with imaginative style so that your artistry receives the worldwide exposure and recognition that it deserves.

"Your poem will also be featured in printed form, proudly displayed in a special room at the convention that will be accessible to more than 1,800 poets and guests."

Then an Outstanding Achievement in Poetry silver award cup will be shipped over to Joan from America.

Joan has been writing since she was child.

Last year she won an international trophy for her poem My Lady Fayre. But Joan doesn't just write poetry, she has written three children's books, which have been published and has also written the lyrics to songs

Joan said about her poetry: "It just seems to be something I can do. It is so much easier to say what I want to on paper."
