TANGLED love lives and family loyalties are explored in a rumbustuous rendition of Vanbrugh's Restoration comedy at 7.30pm on Friday, August 15 at Cholmondeley Castle - and two winners can go free of charge courtesy of the Guardian.

The Rain or Shine Theatre Company will perform The Provoked Wife by Sir John Vanbrugh on the croquet lawn in front of the castle and, as their name suggests, the show will go on whatever the weather.

To summarise, Sir John Brute and his wife despise each other. Lady Brute in turn loves Constant, but refuses to consummate that love much to the consternation of the latter. Belinda harbours desires for Heartfree, who in turn loves nobody - or so he says.

In the meantime Lady Fancyfull poses and preens whilst loving only herself.

Mademoiselle has eyes for Razor but with whom do his loyalties lie?
