THE Banned Network is up to something just that little bit different on Friday, August 15 at the Winnington Rec, with a doctors and nurses night.

Taking the pulse will be the usual three bands, but, as it's a special night, all three bands will be returning heroes of the Banned! Scene. Most importantly it's a good excuse to get dressed up and party.

The first incision will be made by Bad Hair Day, a band that has always improved at every gig they've played at the Rec, be it with new material, or becoming a tighter, more co-ordinated band. Coming straight from the neo punk school, B.H.D are one of those bands that believe that an audience having fun is far more important than if they are.

Should a further fun transfusion be needed, not to worry as Grampus Eight will be on hand. What does a Liverpool based band, named after a Japanese Football team have to offer? Describing themselves as "Kind of punky, emotional pop", and likening the band to Wheezer, this band has a talent for switching from mellow twinkles, to full on, bouncing off the walls, upbeat punk without any warning at all.

The Loungekings have the headline slot, and rightly so. Making a return to the big stage at the Rec. Chesterfield's finest are back, bringing their own take on upbeat Blues Rock. A four-piece band, the Loungekings have played from one end of the country to the other. As a tornado of noise and hair erupts on the stage it's nigh on impossible not to get swept along into the bands own little world.

Watch out for some superb stand out material, well the entire set, but songs such as Dancing in on me and Second are gleaming examples of the Loungkings at their greatest.
