AN exhibition of Shirley Hughes' illustrations from her best-selling children's books is on display at Liverpool's Walker Gallery.
Her stories are read by youngsters in countries as far afield as India, America and China.
Born in West Kirby, Shirley is the daughter of renowned local businessman TJ Hughes. She studied at Liverpool School of Art and then at the Ruskin School, Oxford.
The exhibition, open until August 25, includes sketchbooks, drawings and paintings. It coincides with the release of her autobiography, 'A life Drawing.'
