WELL, I see from the letters on your page that once again Runcorn is getting the thin end of any stick going.
So, we are down for the new custody suite. Well, stick it in Widnes, they get everything else.
If Widnes were on the receiving end of Runcorn/Widnes Bridge when they need to go shopping on a Saturday, the local council would have found the money to replace it years ago. Instead they regularly close at least one lane on a Saturday making it almost impossible to escape what is rapidly becoming a ghost town.
This is due utterly and completely to Halton Council and their lack of investment in what was when I moved here 15 years ago a really nice place to live and shop.
We have no choice about shopping in Widnes if we want a choice of shops.
Halton Council have murdered our market and our High Street is a joke.
We can't even buy toys there anymore.
If Morrisons want to move from Widnes to Runcorn, I for one will welcome them with open arms.
Inge Preston, Runcorn
