I'VE recently left Halton Hospital after a major operation for bowel cancer and I can't praise everyone enough, from the surgeon to the nursing staff, for the way they looked after me.
Therefore, it came as a shock to read that Halton Hospital was in trouble financially and staff wise.
Something must be done immediately to save their magnificent hospital and its wonderful staff. Is it a coincidence that since executive staff have taken over the running of our health service the majority of hospitals are in trouble?
Many years ago the matron ran the hospitals with a rod of iron. Hospitals did not run into financial troubles and patients didn't have hospitals with a disease they never went in with. Let the medical staff run the hospital; they know what they are doing.
