General Chemicals 0 Mallaby 3
Carlsberg West Cheshire Division One
THIS was a disastrous start to the Chemics West Cheshire League campaign, fielding a strong side with only Robbie Moore and Gary Lunt missing from the squad, a better result was expected.
In the first half a back pass from skipper Bernie Cannon put keeper Matty Blair in trouble and the result was an easy goal for Mallaby striker Cotgreave.
It was 1-0 at half time and Mick Smith was introduced for the hard working Geoff Tan.
Chemics failed to improve and Mallaby added two more goals as they ran the game in the middle of the field and punished an under par Chemics defence.
Lee Evans was given man of the match for Chemics, the only bright note of the afternoon.
Lee signed for the club earlier in the week having returned to Runcorn from studies at university.
Manager Gary Moore was quick to get the player back with the club.
On Wednesday, August 20 and Saturday, August 23, Chemics entertain Ellesmere Port and are away to Cammel Lairds respectively with kick offs at 6.30pm and 3pm.
They will be hoping to put this behind them.
General Chemicals Football Club are sponsored by RJM Maintenance of Runcorn.
