CONFUSION surrounds a campaign by young Winwick footballers to reduce pitch fees in the village.
Members of Winwick Athletic Junior Football Club, which currently has 14 teams for footballers aged between four and 16, were unhappy about the £2,560 charges levied by the parish council for pitches at Winwick Leisure Centre.
Three weeks ago, the Guardian highlighted their fight to reduce fees, which are virtually double the equivalent rates elsewhere in the borough.
And the club hoped it had found a resolution when fees were initially reduced to £1,500, but having decided to move some of the teams elsewhere, the price went up again.
Dave Hughes, manager of the Winwick under-10s side, said: "The parish council has asked us to have a meeting with them and we will have a meeting before when we are going to discuss where we go next."
