GRAPPENHALL endurance king Nick Jones took on an unusual opponent in Wales on Saturday.
The 29-year-old raced against a train in Tywyn and came out on top in 1hr 24mins.
The locomotive finished the course 14 minutes later in the Race The Train cross country event but Jones had to settle for a second place finish overall.
More than 900 runners entered the race and Jones was hindered by the fact that he turned up for the 14-and-a-half miles event only minutes before the start.
Caroline Jones, Nick's wife, said: "Nick ran well and he is starting to get back to his best."
