WARRINGTON Athletics Club recorded their 10th team victory in the 20-year history of the Birchwood 10K road race on Saturday.
Veteran runner Wayne Thorpe led the team home. He secured eighth place in the 700-strong event which boasted ideal conditions for running.
The race also incorporated the Cheshire Championships, with Thorpe being placed second overall and first veteran.
Dominic Mahon, the first junior in the Cheshire Championships, Adrian Timmins and Neil Shepherd also ran well for Warrington. They finished 13th, 29th and 62nd respectively while Jim Russell crossed the line in 247th and Mark Smith came 377th.
The individual winner on the day was Paul Howarth. He completed the course in 31mins 17secs while fellow Wirral Athletics Club member Helen Lawrence, was the first woman to cross the finishing line.
