Huddersfield UR 10

WARRINGTON Woolston Rovers showed plenty of grit and determination to come from behind and defeat Huddersfield Underbank Rangers in a captivating National League Three elimination play-off on Saturday.

Tempers frayed more than once but that seemed to add to the excitement for the large appreciative crowd.

Dave Powlesland (fighting), Neil Hyde (holding down) Dave Kelly (fighting) and Lee Rushton (illegal use of the knee) were sin-binned for Rovers.

Huddersfield's Richard Brooke and Kevin Dunn were also given yellow cards while Rovers substitute Ben Heaton was sent off for a high tackle in the second half.

Rovers will be hoping to show more discipline in their second eliminator play-off on Saturday. St. Albans Centurions will provide the opposition and the game at Wilderspool Stadium will kick-off at 4pm, subject to confirmation.

Mellor goaled and Cole then turned provider as Rovers wrapped up victory courtesy of a Mark Wallington touch down.
