The candidates are the first to pass through an induction process for vacancies at the Winwick Road supermarket, backed by the Northwest Development Agency, targeted at unemployed people living in the town's inner wards.
Recruitment began in June with a series of information days and progress through various preparation stages and interviews before the successful applicants undertook a two-month retail training course at Chester College's Warrington campus in Padgate.
Tesco will now begin its own induction course for staff based at the store, which is set to open this autumn.
