YOUNG golfers in Newton are set to benefit from a training course that is now being offered on a regular basis.
The passport to golf training course, running at Sherdley Park Golf Course, was set up during the summer holidays as part of the council's Summer Fun in St Helens activity programme.
It is a subsidised junior coaching clinic aimed at beginners and pre-handicap golfers between nine and 16 years of age.
The council has now decided to extend the initiative beyond the holidays.
It costs £15 for five lessons and there is a small charge for golf balls.
The passport to golf scheme is run by qualified golf professionals and involves recording the youngsters' achievements and progress in a junior golf passport.
To enrol, contact the club on 01744 817 967.
