LOCAL golfer David Kelly is celebrating this week after winning the semi-final of the Queen Mother's Cup 2003 golf competition organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care.
David, from Newton-le-Willows, competed against 17 other contestants in the semi final of the national golf tournament held at The Tytherington golf club on July 21.
He scored 35 Stableford points and will now go forward to the grand Final held at the magnificent Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales on September 1.
Computer consultant, David is a member of Portal Premier golf club, and has a handicap of 11. He has been playing golf for 15 years.
The annual Queen Mother's Cup Golf Tournament raises funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care's home nursing service.
This year's competition attracted thousands of entries from over 500 golf clubs around the UK.
