VICTORIA emerged victorious from their clash of the titans with Griffin in Newton Summer Darts League's Section C.

The result moved the two sides level on points at the top of the table and with only three games left to play, a thrilling climax to the season is a certainty.

Victoria raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to great darts from Ian Kirkham, Ste Van Den Hoek and Dan Robinson.

Griffin skipper Lee Wood called himself into third leg action to try and stop the rot but he was shattered by Robinson's 180.

Norman Dackombe and Ged Hulme succeeded where Wood failed and a stunning comeback looked on the cards with the score at 3-2.

But Phil Smith put Victoria further ahead and their victory was sealed when Craig Harvey had no answer to Tom Duxbury's power play.

Also in Division C, Railway recorded an impressive 6-3 win against Newmarket. They were indebted to the fine form of Ste Brennan, 29 darts, Marcus Shaw, 28, Mark Wheatley Snr, 38, Mark Wheatley Jnr, 26, Paul Flynn, 33 and Keith Mellor, 35.

In Division A, Viaduct maintained their outstanding recent form with a 6-2 success at the expense of Swan. Dave Pojunas, 24, Will Jones, 28, Will Duxbury, 20, Ian Wilson, 24, Les Wilkie, 30 and Dave Smith, 19, were the players which did the damage.

Newton Social edged out Vulcan due to the fine throwing of Barry Smith, 32, Roy Mather, 26, S. W. Jones, 32 and Alan Burrows, 40.

Blue Bell were too hot to handle for Earlestown Cons Club. They won 5-3 with Eric Puzzar, 35, Al Cowley, 29, Bill Puzzar, 25, C. Morris, 30 and skipper Ian Makinson, 27, leading the way.

In Division B, Millstone hit peak form in a 6-3 drubbing of St. Davids. They were given the perfect start by Dave Lawrenson, who took out Will Keating in 34 darts, and they never looked back.
