NANTWICH CC have emerged as chief challengers for Bowdon's ECB Premier League crown after a 3-wicket win over mid-table Neston.

That's six wins in eight games for the Dabbers who overhauled Chester Boughton Hall to move into second spot, 40 points behind the leaders and favourites.

With four games to go, Nantwich still have a decent chance if they capitalise on a make or break game at Bowdon on Saturday.

Former Guyana paceman Barrington Browne was the key man in setting up their success as a thrilling finale ensued at Whitehouse Lane.

Browne's 7-75 was his best this season and restricted the visitors to a decent 192, thanks largely to the efforts of Tim Peers (44) and Alan Tyler (38no).

Paul Hampshire (59) and Jeff Maynard (32) gave them the platform as they just about edged home with one ball to spare.

Nantwich took 25 points to set up what could be the game of the season on Saturday.
