NANTWICH Town's hopes of getting off to a flier in the mass NWC Division One promotion race were blown away by back-to-back defeats.

Looking to erase a shock 2-0 defeat at home to Squires Gate on Saturday, the Dabbers were ready to take out their frustration at Curzon Ashton.

Back with Nantwich and no stranger to the scoresheet, Danny Griggs got them off to the best possible start after finding the net within seconds of the kick-off but things went rapidly downhill thereafter in a thrilling goal-filled first-half.

Fisher levelled on 13 minutes with Curzon's first of the season.

Then Mitten managed to hit the target to give the home side the advantage.

Hall cancelled it out on 26 minutes but celebrations were short-lived as Mitten restored the lead straight from kick-off and completed his hat trick four minutes later for a 4-2 interval scoreline.

Last season's top scorer Wes Wilkinson hit his first of the campaign to set up a grandstand finish but Fisher had the last word to wrap up victory at the death.

Nantwich Town now take an early break from league action.

The Dabbers entertain Stratford Town in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday before returning to bread and butter on Tuesday night.

Salford City visit Jackson Avenue, KO 7.45pm.
