CREWE CC kept alive their slim hopes of promotion with a win and a draw out of last weekend's double-header.

No surprises Indian pro Navdeep Singh was again instrumental, taking 6 for 65 at Kidsgrove, last Saturday.

Solid support from Mike Holt (3 for 58) and Nick Lange (1 for 26) saw the home side bowled out for 154 who had their own pro Sohail Rauf to thank after a fine innings of 66.

Things looked good for Crewe when openers Mark Hurst (11) and Martin Dawson (18) put on 34 but the bizarre run-out of Hurst sparked a collapse that saw them slump to 47 for 5.

Nick Lange (20) rallied well but his controversial dismissal saw Crewe staring down the barrel at 64 for 6.

Karl Stevenson (32) and Richard Marsh (29) steadied things with a fine partnership of 59 but with both gone, they had to hold out for the draw at 131 for 9.

Back to winning ways on Sunday as Crewe completed a four-wicket victory at home to strugglers Burslem.

Singh put a stranglehold on their inning, taking 5 for 54 as the visitors limped to 142 for 8 off their 55 overs.

Mark Hurst went early for 7 but brother Neil (44) and Martin Dawson put on 50 to get back on track.

With that duo gone along with Singh for 17, victory looked unlikely until Nick Lange let loose with a quick fire 28 to see Crewe home.

Sixth in NSSC Division One, Crewe are 47 points off top spot.

They travel to lowly Rode Park on Saturday.
