Friday's win was full of positives

FRIDAY night's game left me full of positives! First of all there were the young lads out there like James Graham, Ian Hardman and Jon Hill who stood up well and did not look out of place.

Then we had Newy coming back in, looking sharper than ever despite a 10 week lay off and just going to show that what some people assume about him and what he actually does on the park are two different things.

And then we had Sean Long, who really did lead from the front and really put his body on the line, and showed real maturity.

Another big bonus was the continued good form of young Jon Wilkin.

He has taken on a key role and has really grabbed his chance with both hands.

He has great attributes to become a top player.

And then you had a wonder try from Ade Gardner.

He took it really well and that was a just reward for the amount of work he did in taking the ball from acting half back for the previous 80 minutes.

Ade just gets better and better. He is a strong lad, who is probably our quickest player over 40 metres.

Our tackling was once again superb and I think that is what won us the game. It was just great to see them all out there battling away.

And we will need another battling performance this Sunday. Hull is a difficult enough place to go at the best of times - but they need the points.

They will be under pressure to perform.

But we just need to look after our own performance - and to win nine on the trot with our injury list is a tremendous achievement.
