TRADING standards is being flooded with complaints about a security firm operating in the Warrington area.

The firm uses disturbing sales tactics to sell security systems and is targeting elderly people.

The equipment that the firm is selling includes panic systems that provide the householder with the ability to raise an alarm in the event of an accident or illness when they would otherwise be unable to call for help.

The firm is giving false information to the customers and is charging high prices for its services.

The company is claiming that it is operating on behalf of Warrington Borough Council and that grants are available to help pay for the systems. It also claims that the panic systems are directly linked to the police.

All of these claims are false and Cheshire Police advise that anyone genuinely interested in purchasing an alarm for their home should use a reputable firm that has been registered to police-recognised trade associations such as SSAIB or NACOSS.
