A PAIR of mini mimics from Sankey Bridges are heading off to Plymouth to entertain the crowds with their impressive impressions as part of a national contest.

Cindy Rose, aged 13, and her sister Sammy, aged nine, from Old Liverpool Road, have sung their way into the semi finals of the Haribo Young Impressionist competition.

The young entertainers had to show off their talents over the phone, so Cindy sang Pink's Don't Let Me Get Me, while Sammy gave a rendition of Avril Lavigne's Complicated.

Now they will perform at the Haribo roadshow in Plymouth on Wednesday, August 27 to try to win a place in the grand final, which takes place in London in September.

And if they make it to London, their performances will be judged by stage school specialist Sylvia Young and children's TV presenters Ortis and Jamie Rickers.

Winners will receive a place at the Sylvia Young Academy summer school, appear on national TV and walk away with a family holiday to Florida, while runners up will win a family holiday to Greece.

Cindy and Sammy's proud mum Christine, who was a contestant on TV show The Murder Game earlier this year, said: "They are excited about the competition, but the first thing on their mind is not winning the prizes - they just love to sing.

"They do a lot of singing together and have recorded themselves. They also went in for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest!"

Christian Freud, from Haribo, said: "We've had a fantastic response to the competition this year, and the level of talent has been outstanding.

"With Sylvia Young on board we are hoping to spot stars of the future and provide them with an opportunity to develop their talent."
