Runcorn Apec Taxis Darts League

THE summer league drew to a close with Likely Lads making certain of the Section Two championship.

Likely Lads who had led the table throughout the whole of the season finished with a 5/4 win against fourth placed RAOB Buffs with runners up Tranny Lads remaining two points adrift after beating Prospect Has Beens 6/3.

Third placed Halton Marauders finished on a high note when a 18 dart game from Alan Bennett helped his team to beat bottom of the table Cherry Tree A 8/1.

Pavilions A finished in fifth after beating Wanderers by the odd game.

After previously being unbeaten all season, Section Five champions The Burma finally tasted defeat when they went down 6/3 at home to runners up Dev Superstars.

Trannie Mix finished in third after coming from 3/1 down to run out 6/3 winners against Eggie Arms whilst at the foot of the table Them Lot remained without a win after losing out 6/3 to next to the bottom Halfway Mixed.

Section One champions Albion held on to their unbeaten record with an 8/1 win against Taverners although the score line was slightly flattering.

The best for the winners here was from the doubles pairing of George McCormack and Phil Littler who had a 17 dart game which included a finish of 100 from the latter whilst Ian Darlington hit a maximum for the losers.

Tricorn held on to the runner up spot despite going down 6/3 to third placed Halfway A whilst fourth placed Wilsons 5/4 winners against Outcasts were a further two points adrift. Lion Doo Waps who were at the foot of the table were able to finish in sixth place after beating Red Admiral 7/2.

Section Four champions RNA had an 8/1 win against Weston Point SC. Draymen knew they had to won their last match to finish second but went 4/1 down against Pavilions B. They fought back and took the four remaining games with anchorman Alan Powell winning in the quickest time when his 15 dart game included a 138 finish.

Grapes who could have finished second came back from 3/1 down to finally beat Royal Oak 5/4 and in so doing finished third.

Cherry Tree A Team finished with a 6/3 win against bottom team Roundhouse.

Waterloo were runner up in Section Three when they beat bottom side Fiddlers III 6/3. Champions Halfway Gents ran out 5/4 winners against third placed Castle.

Union Tavern and Lion remained in fourth and fifth places after they both had 5/4 wins at the expense of Dock Lads and Dreadnaughts respectively.

In the third round of the Doubles Competition Eamonn Hartigan & Steve Hughes (Albion), Gary Kneale & Phil Littler (Albion), Paul Burke & Gary Bazley (Lion Doo Waps) and Neil Ward & Peter Murphy (Taverners) won through. The draws for both the first and second rounds of these competitions will take place at the Waterloo this Sunday at approximately 12.30pm and these matches will take place on Thursday and Friday, August 28 and 29.
