THE funeral has taken place of John Harold Greenhalgh, who died on August 3 aged 56.

John was born and brought up in Weaverham, the son of Alice and Norman Verdin. On leaving school he went to work for ICI where he was a mechanical fitter. Over the last 20 years John has suffered serious ill health but still kept his wit and love of life.

He enjoyed all motor sports, especially driving and travelling abroad, mostly to different areas in and around France.

John was a devoted family man and leaves behind his wife Linda, children Debbie, Jason and Kim, and grandchildren Ashley, Stacy and Elle Louise, of whom he was very proud.

The Rev George Agar officiated at the service at Walton Lea Crematorium after which his ashes will be scattered in Wales, a country he frequently loved to visit with his family.

As well as floral tributes, donations were received for Christie Hospital and Macmillan Community Nurses.

Arrangements were by George Lightfoot, Northwich
