THE funeral was held recently at Holy Trinity Church, Castle for John Peters who died on August 8, aged 63.
John was born in Manchester, the younger of two children born to the late Mary and Reginald Peters, and brought up in Hartford. He attended school locally and was a choirboy at Hartford Parish Church. On leaving school he became an apprenticed fireman for British Rail, then a driver.
He was later employed as a process worker at ICI until his early retirement through ill health.
John married Linda in Hulme Church, Manchester in 1961 and they settled in Hartford where they remained.
During his younger days John played football and followed Northwich Vics and Tottenham. He also enjoyed train spotting and fishing.
John leaves wife Linda, four children and 10 grandchildren. The Rev Sheila Hughes conducted the service prior to committal at Walton Lea. Family floral tributes were received and donations for Leighton Hospital.
