THE first Barnton and Frodsham AC match of the week was the Members and Vets match at Heesom's Pool on Wednesday.

Clear winner on the day was Ted Isherwood who landed a net of mainly skimmers, together with roach, perch and crucians for a total weight of 13-0-0 taken on pellet and squatt at five metres.

Second was Steve Furfie with Stan Aston completing the frame.

On Thursday the penultimate round of the Hormbrey Summer Series took place at the Junior Cistern.

In the 8-12 years section, there was a dead certainty before the start - somebody with the surname Finney would win the match! Due to summer holidays and other commitments the turnout in this age group consisted of brothers Michael and Stephen Finney, along with their cousin Christian.

Top place this week went to Michael, which means that all three have claimed a match winner's medal this season.

The 13-16 years section was won by Daniel Steele

The annual ICI C and P sponsored match was held on the River Weaver at Anderton on Sunday.

The honours in the junior section match went to Danny Griffith, peg 39, who took skimmers, roach, gudgeon, dace and perch for a total weight of 6-4-0.

Ian Morrison was second with a mixed net of 5-15-0 while third place went to Daniel Steele with 4-14-8.

Michael Greenwood took most of the coin in the senior section match with 8-9-0 of skimmers, roach and chub. Drawn on peg 41, Michael started with squatt at six metres but changed to hemp at the same distance.
