Any hopes Winnington Park had of claiming the title now appear to be pipe dreams after defeat at Poynton on Saturday.

Indeed Park are now in danger of losing their top four spot altogether after claiming just four points from this disappointing match.

Batting first Poynton declared on 236-6.

Hayes was the pick of the bowlers for Park taking 3-81, Paul Allen also bowled well with 2-68.

In reply Park then had to face a lively opening spell from Carlisle Stuart and Steve Turner, as well as having to contend with a steadily deteriorating surface.

Tom Allan was the first to fall victim to a rolling ball when he was trapped LBW by Turner for 9.

Bunby provided good resistance, making 40 before he was out and Johns reached 13 before he was caught at third man off Stuart, but Park finally crumbled to 115 all out with five overs to spare.

Winnington play against Alsager next week and will be looking for a win to stop their recent poor league record.
