CRIME prevention officers are hoping that a late summer concert will be music to the ears of security-conscious people living in Haydock.

Next Tuesday the Merseyside Police Band will be making an appearance at the C&B Club in Ireland Road, from 1.45pm as part of a joint police and council safety promotion.

The performance begins at 2pm and will last for approximately an hour. A free raffle and tea and coffee is also on offer.

Afterwards, crime reduction officers will be on hand to offer the latest hints and tips on crime prevention, personal safety and bogus callers.

Officials from British Red Cross, which has a base in Earle Street, Earlestown, will also be on hand to explain the benefits of their Dawn Patrol initiative.
