THE Carlsberg-Tetley Open League is set for a grandstand finish to the season.

To avoid clashes with the Alex some teams have already played their Bank Holiday fixtures, but the season still needs to be extended by a week to accommodate some outstanding matches.

Premier Darts looks to be a three way contest between Vine A, Polish A and Lady A.

Leaders Vine A and main challengers Polish A gained 6-2 wins at Raven and LMR A, while Lady A drop back to third after drawing with Pioneers.

The forthcoming clash of Vine A and Lady A will be critical, especially as it is the Lady's only remaining match.

Tony Pogonowski (Polish A) and Mick Hassall (Vine A) hit 15 dart legs, Mick included a 180 in his. Howard Bateman (Vine A) won in 17 and 20 darts and Warren Hollands (Raven) hit a 180.

Division 1 Darts toppers Delamere Arms beat Cosey 6-2 to ensure a top two finish, with one point needed to be champions for the fourth consecutive season.

Belle Vue should be runners-up after their 6-2 win at ASLEF Oddies put them 14 points clear of Hawk, who won 5-3 at Polish C. Mark Tirrell (Delamere) won in 15 and 19 darts, while team mate Rob Arrowsmith and Steve Austin (Belle Vue) hit 16 darters, Steve including a 180 in his. Pete Doyle (Delamere) won with a brace of 19 darters and Mick Shea (Hawk) hit a 19 darter and a 116 checkout. Maximum 180s were hit by Malc Griffin (Amalgamated A), Tony Swindells (Cosey) and Norman Tomkinson (ASLEF).

Division 2 Darts leaders Rockwood drew at third placed Nags Head A to keep them at bay.

Second placed Hop Pole move within two points of the leaders after a 6-2 win at Liberal A and are five points clear of Nag A.

The current top four clash in their next matches, which will be critical to all.

Ray Morris (Nags Head A) won in 17 darts and Alan Abbott (South Street RNA) with a 119 checkout.

In Division 3 Darts the League Management Committee deducted two points from Imperial's total for playing an unregistered player in their match at the George, and amended the match score to 4-4.

A draw with King's Arms B ensured leaders George of a top two finish.

After catching up on fixtures second-placed British Lion A are now three points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

The George now have their bye week and to cap it all the pair clash at the Lion in their final match.

Division 4 Darts pacemakers Leisure Club built up a 13 point lead after wins over Shavington and Crosville Clubs, and need a draw from their last match at second-placed Monkey to be champions.

Monkey thrashed North Ward to go eight points clear of third-placed Brought Arms, 5-3 winners at Vine B.

Pete Tullett (Liberal B) hit a maximum 180.

A nail-biting finish is likely in Premier Dominoes where six points cover the top five.

The current top four of South Street Snooker, Lady A, Polish A and Vine A all won 5-3, the Polish win at LMR A demoted the latter to fifth, but still in contention.

Lady A hold the key as their only remaining match is host to fourth-placed Vine A.

A three team battle royale in Division One Dominoes sees leaders Kings Arms A a point ahead of near neighbours Belle Vue after both won.

Kings A beat Woodside 5-3 and Belle Vue hammered hosts ASLEF Oddies 7-1.

Polish C drop to third, two points behind Belle Vue, after Hawk ended their ten match unbeaten run by beating them 5-3.

Division Two Dominoes toppers British Lion A moved closer to being champions when an emphatic 6-2 win round the corner at South Street RNA saw them go six points clear.

Second placed Liberal A beat Hop Pole 5-3 to open a six points gap on Nantwich Road Club, held to a draw by Cross Keys.

Fourth-placed Amalgamated B are out of the running after losing 5-3 to lowly RAOB B.

Another tight finish is likely in Division Three Dominoes where the top four are covered by as many points.

Leaders Nag B did not play, but Sydney B failed to capitalise, their draw at bottom team Imperial leaving them a point short of top spot.

Coppenhall Leighton drop to third after their bye week, while fourth placed George also slipped up after a scrambled draw with Kings B.

Division Four Dominoes has the two Shavington teams to the fore, with the club leading by a point after playing their holiday match early.

They only have one match left, and that is against third-placed North-Ward.

Vine B won both pairs games to scramble a draw with Broughton Arms and really need wins in both remaining matches to take the title.

The first relegation of the season involves RAOB A, who are probably very relieved to drop down to Division One.

One of Bridge C, Raven and Commercial will accompany RAOB and all three have to play each other.

Delamere Arms and Belle Vue are odds on to try out the Premier, while any two from seven could face the drop to Division Two.

Rockwood and Hop Pole are favourites to try out the best of three darts games, but their next clash could let in main challengers Nags Head A.

South St RNA and RAOB B look likely to drop into Division Three, but Liberal A and British Lion A are both still living dangerously.
