CREWE CC maintained their fine form with a convincing five-wicket victory at Rode Park, last Saturday.

It was a perfect start for Richard Marsh's team as both openers were back in the pavilion without a run on the board.

Whalley (21) and Gallimore (32) rallied the side with a half-century stand but from 57 for 2 they collapsed to 71 for 7 with Navdeep Singh weaving his magic (71 for 7), well supported by Nick Lange (2-17) and Mike Holt (1-42).

All out for 127, Crewe made an even worse start in pursuit of that total after losing their first three wickets for just five runs.

When Mark Hurst joined them at 32 for 4, they looked to be staring down the barrel but a superb partnership of 87 between Tom Gower and Lange took them to the brink of success.

With the latter gone for a fine 43, Karl Stevenson joined Gower who completed the job, unbeaten on 59.

Crewe took 20 points and entertain Norton on Saturday.
