THIS last week has seen, to my knowledge, two big fires - one at the Gemini Centre and the one that destroyed Aldi supermarket. The latter building was completely gutted.
Also I noted that a car was torched in town.
Unfortunately, today in this country, even if the police catch these yobs, the courts will be lenient on them.
Why did these do-gooders in our society get rid of borstal as a great institution for such people? This is something we urgently need in this country, along with police on foot, not just in patrol cars.
We should never have lost, through lack of funding, police living in a house in each district of the town, officers who were responsible for that area.
No, we cannot afford to fund either the NHS or the police. But this Government can find the money to fund asylum seekers, instead of curbing how many come to these islands.
