I WRITE regarding the articles printed in last weeks Star about St Helens being called Greater Liverpool (Dear Star, August 7).

I was quite upset to read some of the comments made. I have lived in St Helens all of my life but have a Merseyside accent, as my parents are both originally from Liverpool.

Myself and my family like St Helens the way it is and totally agree that we should not be called Greater Liverpool.

I also think that before we turn this situation into a war, people should realise that it is not the Liverpudlians who want St Helens to be called Greater Liverpool but rather the bigger and better people who have the power to make such decisions.

Please remember that St Helens has many scouse residents and both scousers and yickers are all on the same side regarding this matter and as long as we understand that then World War III won't happen.
