MANY traders in Stockton Heath have agreed to contribute money towards new resurfacing works on the village's main street.

Councillors had previously expressed fears that, with only a handful of outlets promising to have their forecourts revamped, the pavements would end up looking 'messy'.

But after negotiation with parish councillors, shop owners have decided to pay a nominal fee to ensure that there are no gaps on London Road.

Stockton Heath Parish Council is using money usually used for village improvements like street lighting and CCTV to give £2500 towards the resurfacing.
