A WINWICK officer has graduated from RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire after completing a six-month initial training course.

Twenty-three-year-old flying officer Tom Summerscales, of Faringdon Road, took part in the Queen's Review ceremony, attended by the Duke of York, which included a performance by the Red Arrows.

Tom, who is an engineering graduate of Churchill College, Cambridge, and a former student of Manchester Grammar School, completed the 24-week course of physical training, leadership and management skills and air experience after joining the RAF in December last year.

He is now gearing up to start his professional training as an engineer with the department of specialist ground training at Cranwell.
